You humans love your piña coladas, those sticky sweet cocktails made with rum, coconut milk, and pineapple juice. Unfortunately for us, coconuts are a bit difficult to come by in Hell (as in pretty much non-existent) so true mortal piña coladas are a rare treat.
*Don’t ask me why, but pineapples are abundant in Hell. Something about the Devil loving them on his pizza…
Less rare, however, are ghouls. For every coconut you mortals have, we have ten ghouls. Ghouls in Hell are nasty, sticky things that manage to drip ectoplasm on everything…and if you’ve never had to clean a smear of that sticky goop off your black shirt, you’re lucky (and don’t even start me on their constant wailing and moaning).
Disgusting as they are, ghouls are good for something…
Piña Ghoul-adas.
A single ghoul, well pressed through a wringer, can produce enough ectoplasm to make at least three dozen of these frosty delicious drinks.
Unfortunately for you guys, fresh ghoulish ectoplasm is as hard to get as coconuts are for us, so I’ve got a bit of a compromise for you…
For this recipe you will need:
- Sparkle Gel icing (the same stuff we used for the Halfblood Blend Shake
- White or silver sanding sugar
- 1 8oz can of condensed milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3 cups cold water
- zest from 1 lime
- 1/2 cup lime juice (fresh squeezed or bottled)
- 3 oz coconut rum (optional – can be left out for virgin drinks)
- 1 cup ice
- 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
Start by first mixing your sugar into your water. Stir until all the sugar is dissolved. Add your lime juice and stir to combine.
In a blender, crush your ice and frozen pineapple chunks. Add in your condensed milk and pulse until frothy.
Drizzle in your sugar/lime water and blend well. As a final step, add in your lime zest and your (optional) rum.
To serve:
Using your silver sparkle icing, drip a generous amount around the edge of your serving glass, allowing it to ooze down the inside of the surface.
Roll the glass edge in your sanding sugar to coat.
Gently pour in your mixed Ghoul-ada and garnish with either a lime slice or whatever garnish you choose (I used dragon fruit).
Drink cold, enjoy, and as always…
Bone appetite!
