Mmm…Absinthe. One of my all-time favorite alcohols. Earlier this week I used it to make this Flaming Phantom and had so much fun, I figured I’d keep going and make something else fun and tasty. I also wanted to incorporate a bit of the “green fairy” lore into them, which is why, with the addition of a little vitamin B2, these Absinthe packed tasty treats throw off an eerie green glow when lit up under blacklight.
No matter how you adjust the ratio, these glowing green gummies are dangerously delicious.
I’m also putting this under the category of Scary Fast because these little guys are super easy to make and take no time to gel up in the fridge. The whole recipe will take you less than 30 minutes!
To make your own glowing green Absinthe gummies, you will need:
- 1 cup water*
- 1/2 cup Absinthe* (I love Lucid!)
- 4 packets of unflavored gelatin
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 vitamin B2 tab
- green food coloring
*These gummies are a powerful punch of booze, but you can adjust how much or how little alcohol you want to include in them by adjusting the level of liquid you use to make them. Want to knock yourself on your butt? Drop the water down to 1/4 cup and up the Absinthe to 3/4 cup.
Pour your water into a pot and sprinkle your gelatin on top. Allow it to bloom for about 10 minutes then turn the heat on to medium.
While it’s blooming, crush your B2 vitamin tab.
Over medium heat, sprinkle in your sugar and food coloring and allow to gently simmer until all your sugar is dissolved.
Remove from heat and add in your Absinthe and your crushed B2. Stir to mix completely and to dissolve your vitamins.
Spoon into skull-shaped silicone molds. I used this skull mold from Amazon.com. Pop into the fridge and wait. Because the gelatin is so concentrated (4 packets is a lot!) they’ll gel super fast and pop out of the mold with no issues. They’ll also be really “thick” meaning they won’t require any cornstarch dusting and should not be sticky at all.
These gummies won’t melt at room temperature, but if you plan on making them ahead of time, I do suggest keeping them in the fridge until you’re ready to put them out for guests (…or yourself. Hey, I’m not here to judge.)
Enjoy them as they are, or to really experience the spooky effect, flip on a blacklight and watch them glow!
Bone Appetite!

Heyas, I was getting a huge kick out of this recipe because I LOVE absinthe! One thing you might want to try out is using sublingual Vitamin B liquid instead of crushing the powder. That way there’s no chance of grit. Thanks for the recipe, and stay scary! 😀
Absinthe is amazing!!! And holy cow, how have I never heard of sublingual Vitamin B??? That’s brilliant! Thank you so much for the heads up. I’ll grab some on Amazon and give it a try.
